Family Sponsorship Government Fees
Family sponsorship fees differ depending on the category and the age of a sponsored person. Child fees are lower as compared to those of an adult principal applicant. Find out what amount of fees are due based on the type of relationship between a sponsor and a principal applicant.
Government Fees
Spousal, Common-law or Conjugal Partner Sponsorship
- Sponsorship fee - $75
- Principal applicant processing fee - $475
- Right of permanent residence fee - $490
- Dependent child (included on spousal or partner application) processing fee - $150
- Biometrics fee - $85 per person, or - $170 for a family of 2 or more
- Sponsorship fee - $75
- Child processing fee - $75
- Right of permanent residence fee - $490
- Biometrics fee is required for a child who is 14 years or older - $85
- Sponsorship fee - $75
- Parent or grandparent processing fee - $475
- Spouse or partner of a parent or grandparent processing fee - $550
- Right of permanent residence fee - $490
- Child (of a parent or grandparent ) processing fee - $150
- Biometrics fee is required for parents or grandparents who are under 79 years - $85 per person, or - $170 for a family of 2 or more
- Sponsorship fee - $75
- Orphaned relative processing fee - $75
- Right of permanent residence fee - $490
- Biometrics fee is required for an orphaned relative who is 14 years or older - $85
Other Close Relative Sponsorship
If a relative is 22 years or older:
- Sponsorship fee - $75
- Relative processing fee - $475
- Spouse or partner of a relative processing fee - $550
- Right of permanent residence fee - $490
- Biometrics fee - $85 per person, or - $170 for a family of 2 or more
If a relative is under 22 years:
- Sponsorship fee - $75
- Relative processing fee - $75
- Spouse or partner of a relative processing fee - $550
- Right of permanent residence fee - $490
- Biometrics fee is required for an orphaned relative who is 14 years or older - $85
It is recommended to pay all fees at the time of submission of an application. It will help to avoid delays and can eventually result in faster processing time. However, in case of a limited budget, the right of permanent resident fees are usually allowed to be paid at a later stage, when the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) starts processing an application for permanent residence and requests it.
